We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand new drink Cháps: Premium Zobo! When we started this mission to bring representation to African drinks, we knew that the buck was not going to stop at Chapman. 

From the start, we had the idea that we wanted to launch Zobo as our second product. If you don't know, Zobo is traditionally a homemade drink from Hibiscus Sabdariffa, a plant indigenous to continental Africa. It is a variation of many hibiscus-based drinks that are staple across Africa and the Caribbean. For example, it is known as Sobolo in Ghana, Bissap in Senegal, Wonjo in Gambia, Karkade in Egypt & Sorrel in the Caribbean -  just to name a few.

We spoke with our Cháps community for months through social media, our in person pop-ups and activations to hear their opinions on Zobo as our second product. Interestingly, most people who were familiar with Zobo as a drink raised the benefits of having a ready-to-drink Zobo option, as home making is a laborious and time-consuming task.

The recipe development process took months and we included members from the Cháps community to help with the tasting process. After a few iterations, we finally got the perfect authentic Zobo taste that we were after! And in January 2024, we finally produced our first batch of our Cháps: Premium Zobo! 

 

Our stockists were as excited as us for launch, and we delivered out cases across our stockists right away and made some pretty cool launch announcements across our social media pages and emails.
